Impact Resistant Shingles
In order for CertainTeed's shingles to be certified as
"Impact Resisitant" they had to withstand the
impact of a 2" steel ball, dropped from a height of
20 feet, without cracking. This gives them the UL2218 Class
4 impact resistant designation.

fiber glass mat base, with an even tougher fiber glass scrim
reinforcement to help it achieve the highest (Class 4) impact
resistance classification
